The founding of Somague Ambiente came about as a result of the 1993 acquisition of 50% of the CESL Group, the largest Portuguese environmental area.

In 1999, the CESL Group entity became Somague Ambiente as a strategic answer designed to meet the new and significant challenges of modern society which are inherently environment related.
