Maritime works

Various types of works carried out by Somague stand out: ports, jetties and breakwaters, embankments, quay, sewage outfall, dredging, marinas, container, cruise ship, oil tanker and LNG terminals, etc.

Its expertise in this area goes beyond Portugal to Spain, Morocco, Angola, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Brazil or Venezuela.

Somague has led various projects, amongst which: the expansion of the Port of Funchal (Madeira) in 1962, renovation of the Port of Leixões (Oporto, Portugal) in 1968, expansion of the Porto of Luanda (Angola) in 1968, the Setenave Shipyard (Setúbal, Portugal) in 1975, the expansion of the Port of La Guaira (Venezuela) in 1980, the Port of Sines – Coal Terminal (Portugal) in 1987, the Ports of Maio, Mindelo and Boavista (Cape Verde) in 1997, the hydrolift at the Mitrena Shipyard (Portugal) in 2000, as well as the oil tanker terminal of Mohammedia (Morocco) , the rehabilitation of the Port of Jorf Lasfar (Morocco) in 2002, the rehabilitation of the Port of Praia da Vitória (the Azores – Portugal) in 2007, the construction of the East Jetty of the Port of Valencia (Spain) in 2007, and of the Douro Jetties (Portugal) in 2008.
